Kamel Ben Salem Tunis University, Pacific Journal
*I have made an error. Tony Maranto has suggested that Kamel has no afilliation with Akamia so direct all the spam to Kamel himself because Akamia appears to be the Good Guys.
The following post was written before I knew this.
I got a spam email the other day from Kamel, a supposed professor at *Akamai University http://www.akamaiuniversity.us/ This university claims to believe in the "amelioration of major world problems." If there is a greater world problem than email spam I'll eat my hat and post a video of my doing so online. The hypocrisy is obvious enough but I decided to let the "Dr." Ben-Salem know my thoughts (words in quotes come from their website)
The infamous letter:
Dear colleague,
I am a Tunisian University professor. I am interested in data analysis concerning different domains (Biology, Geology, Astronomy, Linguistics etc...). In this context I have written a paper entitled : "A new vision of the universe evolution", that has been presented at the SYMPOSIUM ″The Future of Life and the Future of Our Civilization″ held at the University of Frankfurt (Germany- May , 2005) and recently published (in an extended version)in "The Pacific Journal of Science and Technology" (Vol 6,1, May 2005, please see : http://www.akamaiuniversity.us/PJST6_1_37.pdf).
In this paper I describe a scenario of the solar system end, the initial structure of the universe, its formation chronology, its evolution etc... The results of our investigations are carefully compared with the most recent theories such as that of Harvey Richer (University of British Columbia) and that of Paul Steinhardt (Princeton University)& Neil Turok (Cambridge University).
Would you please send me your comments even if you are not a specialist in this domain of research. You response will be used to achieve a statistical analysis of the whole responses sent by experts and non experts. In fact, I aim to reach three targets : - To get as much opinions as possible on a subject that interests the future of the solar system and of the universe in general. - To contact experts in Astronomy as well in cosmology and philosophy etcÃ… - To achieve a statistical analysis of the responses IÃ’ll receive. I look forward to receiving your comments promptly. Thank you for your valuable co-operation..

Email spam is a "major world problem." It threatens the "sustainability" of the World Wide Web, what I consider to be the greatest "generator of new knowledge." A sender of spam (and by this I mean the notorious Kamel Ben Salem) is the appitamy of all evil. Their sending is by all means detrimental to "the advancement of the human condition."Join in and send your own irate emails to: kamel.bensalem@fst.rnu.tn, kamel_archives@yahoo.fr,
I would not like to join your "efforts toward human betterment" if these efforts require such high crimes to humanity as sending spam emails.

New emails: Kamel Ben Salem is still sending this pdf around only now he is using the following email addresses: kamel.bensalem@gmail.com
kamel.bensalem@lycos.com
kamel.bensalem@fst.rnu.tn
I recomend contacting the university to let them know this is inappropriate behavior from a professor
That is as of Feb. 23, 2007
I just received the same spam from the same guy, translated into (good) french. This religious freak is also a well organised spammer ! (september 2007)
He's still spamming. I received three such emails (in French, I work at a French institute), in september 2007 and january & march 2008. I asked to be removed from his spam list twice, then searched out of curiosity and found this site.
He's using both the kamel.bensalem@fst.rnu.tn
kamel.bensalem@lycos.com
e-mail addresses.
This comment has been removed by the author.
I dont understand one thing, if he is not working in that akamai university, how come the paper is over there? The link directly goes to the university webpage?
As of 22nd March 2008, the same guy has been sending spam with his email addresses from gmail, lycos and E-mail : kamel.bensalem@fst.rnu.tn
The paper he claims exists on springer link by the same author. So, i wonder if the spammer is using a real person's id and created similar email ids in different domains to suit him.??
Wow, I can't even believe this guy is still around!
I just got one today (August 31st, 2009); apparently he sent me one on April 18th, 2008 as well. It's amazing how committed to something crazy people can be.
The man may be sending his papers out to an unusually wide audience, but it would be an error to classify him as some sort of lunatic. People from many religions have attempted to reconcile their holy texts with the physical world/universe. Kamel Ben Salem attempts to do so from a Qur'anic point of view. If you don't want to receive his email, tell him. Personally, I think he's genuinely interested in obtaining responses regarding his writings.
Despite of it all the place is till a good place to explore. You would never ran out of activities to do. Try to see the beautiful side of the place and you will be happy with your trip.
akamia or tunis?
i want spams: ramsh79@hotmail.com
In June 2019 he is still sending this to UK universities from his bensalem.kamel@issig.rnu.tn address, only the 2005 date has been removed (presumably because it's not so "new" anymore) and a ResearchGate link added. Below is the version I received (with some blank lines removed).
Note that Akamai University is not accredited by an agency recognised by the US DOE, which probably means they are willing to host papers without proper checking. And ResearchGate is basically a social network for anyone who has access to an academic email address.
Copy of email follows:
Dear colleague,
I am a Tunisian University professor. I am interested in Data Analysis concerning different domains (Biology, Geology, Astronomy, Linguistics, Sciences of religions etc...). In this context, I have written a paper entitled "A new vision of the universe evolution", that has been presented at the Symposium "The Future of Life and the Future of Our Civilization" held at the University of Frankfurt (Germany) then published (in an extended version) in "The Pacific Journal of Science and Technology" and which is available on ResearchGate website: (please see : https://www.researchgate.net/publication/331963051_The_Evolution_of_the_Universe_A_New_Vision
In this paper I describe a scenario of the solar system end, the initial structure of the universe, its formation chronology, its evolution etc... The results of our investigations are carefully compared with the most recent theories.
Since the topic would interest many readers, I send you a copy of the paper. You would be very kind by sending me your remarks and comments in order to :
- Get as much opinions as possible on a subject that interests the future of the solar system and of the universe in general.
- Contact experts in both Astronomy and Universe sciences.
- Establish statistical results related with opinions of the contacted persons (experts and non experts) on the diverse points discussed in the paper.
